Vienna on the street with Sony A7R and Fuji X-T1

I figured it was time to get the Sony A7R camera onto the street to see how it performed.

The first image below, is one I’ve taken either in my mind’s eye or before. The classic city bench waiting for the tram. I like however folks sit together and how they’re related to each other. Maybe they are sisters or friends, who knows! That what photographing this scene I guess is about and what I enjoy about it.

Next up, is a street door littered with stickers and posters. There is symmetry here ordered by the those who’ve place their poster, their sticker or signature there. It’s art in a strange way, the participant aren’t really aware of the montage they are producing… I left a piece of the street floor in below and keep the lines as straight as I could by handheld photography.

For those who don’t know, the Sony A7R is a full frame camera with resolution of over 36 mega pixel – not bad huh?! Which is more than enough for most things anyone would want to do with a camera. I’m still using some Canon fix lens, in this case the 50mm ƒ /1.4 with a Canon adaptor which has auto focus function as well. However I prefer and found it much easier to use the focus peaking instead, which is build into the A7R itself. It’s just that AF feature in the adaptor is far to slow and searches all the time until it fixes onto the subject which isn’t fun to use. So back to the images taken…

The image below was taken with the Fujifilm X-T1 which is also a very enjoy camera to use especially it’s glorious viewfinder. The image below, is of collectors – record collectors to be specific. It seems to be quite a serious undertaking judging from the expressions of their faces of concentration. I must admit I do own such a device for playing records and later that day I manage to be tempted too. I picked up a very nice mint record of Taj Mahal but that’s another story involving Blues and listening to analog.

One from the subway – the U-bahn. It’s more about color and how it relates. I’ll let you make you mind up on this image below taken on the U3.

Ah yes, the strange odd shops you still find in the city. In any city for that matter. This time around it’s the Viennese Catholic front, if there was ever a political party… maybe the OVP but let’s not get de-railed here! I found it interesting to photograph, probably because of the subject matter and the size of the shop front itself.

The facade and the light made this one for me, with the two boys playing with their mobile phones. So how life maybe falling all around us, the buildings and society while we are engrossed in the wee screen of a smartphone.
