Ski Touring with the Fujifilm GFX – Frauenalpe, Murau

The big landscape with a big camera is such a pleasure to photograph and capture with the eye. An old decommissioned ski slope with the lifts, cables and pylons  removed is what the Frauenalpe is. The ski area was pretty much abandon until the small lodge –Murauer Hütte at the bottom of the piste received Pisten Bully.

This machine from the 70’s which still runs and operates today. The Frisch family the owners of the small lodge which serves food and drink decided to use of it.  They make fresh  track through the snow up the mountain for visitors to reach the top. The track is used very much on a regular basis for ski touring and snow shoe walking

The Frauenalpe rises to 1997 metres above sea level it takes about an hour and 15 mins to get to the top with touring skis.

This grandiose landscape was capture using the medium format digital camera Fujifilm GFX50s with a wee tiny 50mm Yashinon ƒ/1.9 lens. Of course its an inexpensive lens. However it’s very sharp and usable. You’ll notice the corners are vignetted due to the largest of the camera’s sensor.
