The Dublin Docklands eventually has expanded the city, blending new glass and shaped structures onto a previously flat wasteland. It’s area which still holds my interest to photograph. This is a repeat visit from last year and by now the new bridge stands. Through the opening of the Samuel Beckett Bridge and a sail ship is docked. A view to the past when merchant ships would deliver via the river Liffey. Once cleared by the Customs House upstream it would distributed via the Grand Canal. This lasted until the arrived of the train and goods transport on the canal quickly died out. The company which ran the canal was Córas Iompair Éireann (CIE) a private company until it was nationalised and merge into the railways and buses.
