Long Exposure – Industry by night, Salzburg

St. Leonard, Salzburg.  Taken at ƒ/8 for 8mins at ISO 100 with 135 mm lens at night with a cable release. Photographing industrial subjects at night is something that Michael Kenna is famous for. He found beauty in industrial subjects that dominate a natural landscape. This is where the idea and I guess the inspiration came from. Finding the right location in the landscape has taken about 3 to 4 visits by car. It wasn’t until driving back after the first attempt of a long exposure a week before that I realised a new viewpoint. A position which opened everything up to include how the  industrial plant sits between the mountains on either side.
