This is just for fun, nothing too serious at all. A plastic camera with four plastic fantastic lens.

If anyone is expecting fine art photography here on this blog post then they should look away!. Yep the Lomo Action Sampler camera is simple, and a cheapo 35mm camera. No focus, No exposure settings, Nada, absolute Nada. Point and Shoot is what it does.

I decided to take the multicolored plastic see-through box with me on my day job company’s outing. A ski day in the alps. I figured I didn’t want to bring something that would break or if it did I wouldn’t care too much. So hence that’s where the Action Sampler came  in.

Here’s the load down from Lomo Site :  Load up your Actionsampler with a roll of color 35mm film. For non-flash units, remember to use this guide: Once you’ve got the roll in, you’re ready to sample some action! Aim the camera at a moving subject – or if you choose to take pictures of a solitary object, you’ll have to do the moving – and press the shutter button.

The four lenses will whirl around to captures the scene in 0.22 seconds per frame (and 0.66 seconds in total for four frames in sequence) . The images are stamped in four panels in a 35mm print!

The quality isn’t the goal but the fun is immense. It’s not meant to be serious photography. Definitely more about capturing the moment. I’m becoming a firm believer that a cameras should fit your lifestyle and situation. They should add to it, enhance the moment so to speak.

Living life by proxy through a digital screen isn’t living. So instead of submitting to generation of gear heads and smartphone addicts… Revert to analog fun!

It’s really important the folks around you interact with the camera. So choosing the right camera is vital. Therefore it had to be the Lomo Action Sampler. Easy to carry, simple to active and most of all it didn’t interrupt my skiing or anybody else’s for that matter.
